Multiple-choice questions are ineffective for teaching math skills. Although they are easy to implement in an online math exercise system, multiple-choice questions often encourage guesswork, and therefore contradicts our teaching philosophy.
Instead of multiple choice, we use a wide range of interactive and fill-in-the-blank exercises. These exercises require students to fully engage with each problem, ensuring they understand the concepts, learn from examples and hints, and apply their knowledge effectively. Without the ability to guess or eliminate choices, students must work through the problem and arrive at the correct answer independently. This approach not only strengthens their math skills but also builds confidence and problem-solving abilities that extend well beyond the classroom.
Our first example is a drag-and-drop exercise designed to teach students the connection between multiplication and addition. Most of our word problems include illustrations, and if you look closely, the number of cookies in the illustration precisely matches what is stated in the questions.
The second example is an interactive math game designed to teach students the concept of fractions. In this exercise, students adjust the diagram to match the question statement, guided by an example provided above.
This third example is a math word problem. Most of our word problems include illustrations to help students visualize the questions and relate them to real-world scenarios. Answers are typed in and can include fractions, mixed fractions, variables, exponents, and more.
The last example is our standard fill-in-the-blank exercise. We use this type of exercise frequently in our math tutoring system because it is distraction-free and allows students to focus fully as they work through numerous problems in our system.
We believe the system works! We’ve received numerous positive feedback from parents and students, highlighting improvements in math skills, better grades, and increased confidence. All of these results depend on one key condition: students must consistently complete homework in our system.
Practice, Practice, Practice
That's why our motto is "Homework Everyday". Just like everything else, the more you practice math, the better you become at math. We aim to provide the perfect exercises for you. All you need to do is engage with them and learn.
